The very mention of the word often evokes a sense of the past. Yet from another perspective, local wisdom is in fact a priceless heritage \u2014 a raw material that can be transformed and extended into something that lives alongside the present day. I was truly delighted to be among people who share a passion for local crafts and culture.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"755\" data-end=\"1132\">During the event, we held a <strong data-start=\"783\" data-end=\"808\">sato tasting workshop<\/strong>, featuring fresh brews made from more than six types of native rice, served straight from the jar into traditional <strong data-start=\"924\" data-end=\"932\">khan<\/strong> bowls designed by <strong data-start=\"951\" data-end=\"967\">Suchai Craft<\/strong>. The tasting was paired with <strong data-start=\"997\" data-end=\"1025\">sticky rice and jin thup (Sun-dried beef)<\/strong>\u2014simple yet delicious dishes prepared by <strong data-start=\"1066\" data-end=\"1079\">Chef Prin<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1084\" data-end=\"1103\">Mint Thanyaporn<\/strong> from <em data-start=\"1109\" data-end=\"1129\">Samrub Samrub Thai<\/em>.<\/p>\n\t<div id=\"gap-601488308\" class=\"gap-element clearfix\" style=\"display:block; I used to work as an architect and designer. After years in the city, I began to look back at my home and realized how far I had drifted from it. The longer I worked in urban spaces, the greater the distance became. Yet deep inside, I longed for my rural hometown\u2014the food my mother cooked, and the rice fields where I used to play. That yearning eventually led me back home.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"729\" data-end=\"975\">My home is in <strong data-start=\"743\" data-end=\"780\">Somdet District, Kalasin Province<\/strong>\u2014a quiet rural area that still holds the atmosphere of countryside life. Most people of my generation have left to find opportunities in Bangkok, leaving behind mostly children and the elderly.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"977\" data-end=\"1475\">When I returned, I began redesigning my parents\u2019 land\u2014the inheritance passed down from <strong data-start=\"1064\" data-end=\"1084\">Grandfather Nuan<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1089\" data-end=\"1108\">Grandmother Chan<\/strong>, my only true capital. I started exploring the neighborhood, seeking new possibilities and local materials that could be developed further. From there, I created a brand for my home, naming it after my grandparents, who founded and cultivated this land. I tried making many different things using ingredients I could find around me, until one day I decided to make <em data-start=\"443\" data-end=\"449\">sato<\/em> from the rice my family grows. That experiment became a turning point.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"524\" data-end=\"878\">Through that first batch, I came to know <strong data-start=\"565\" data-end=\"587\">Samrub Samrub Thai<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"593\" data-end=\"625\">Mint Thanyaporn Jarukittikun<\/strong> was one of the first people who asked to buy my sato. Since then, I\u2019ve continued refining and improving its flavor to meet a higher standard\u2014enough to be served in fine dining restaurants\u2014while still receiving ongoing support from Samrub Samrub Thai.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"880\" data-end=\"1195\">We share the same belief: that local wisdom can be reimagined and carried forward into the present, evolving into something even better. I see myself as just one person who returned home to create something meaningful from the knowledge of my ancestors\u2014something that brings color and vitality back to rural life.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1197\" data-end=\"1530\">But none of this would be possible without support. I believe there are many others like me who dream of returning home.
